چکیده

inor i8obutanol. Removal of the lipid is accompanied by simultaneous release of the enzyme into true solution. No other organic solvent tested was effective in releasing the bound phosphatase, indicating a unique action of butanol. I wish to thank Dr M. Dixon, F.R.S., for his encouraging interest and advice during this work. This work was carried out while holding a Travelling Scholarship awarded by the Gowrie Scholarship Trust of Australia, whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged.

Diagnostic evaluation of milk lactate dehydrogenase and alkaline phosphatase activities by receiver operating characteristic analysis curve in early lactation of ewes with subclinical mastitis

The aim of the present study was to investigate the diagnostic evaluation of milk lactate dehydrogenase (mLDH) and alkaline phosphatase (mALP) activities by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis curve in early lactation of ewes with subclinical mastitis (SCM) and determine the correlation between number of somatic cell count (SCC) and mLDH and mALP activities. A total of 196 udder ha...

Somatic cell count and alkaline phosphatase activity in milk for evaluation of mastitis in buffalo

BACKGROUND AND AIM Mastitis is a serious disease of dairy animals causing great economic losses due to a reduction in milk yield as well as lowering its nutritive value. The application of somatic cell count (SCC) and alkaline phosphatase activity in the milk for diagnosis of mastitis in buffalo is not well documented. Therefore, the present study was conducted to observe the SCC and alkaline p...

Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in Human Milk during the First Month of Lactation

Human milk is the main source of nutrients for a child during the first months of life. Alkaline phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.1) is a very important enzyme in clinical chemistry because of its activity in various tissues and biological fluids, being an indicator of physiological or diseased states. Milk contains several phosphatases, the principal ones being alkaline and acid phosphomonoesterases whic...

In vitro diagnosis of cow's milk protein sensitive enteropathy by organ culture method.

The criteria that are used at present to diagnose cow's milk protein sensitive enteropathy (CMPSE) are based on an in vivo milk challenge which can be hazardous and life threatening. We have used an organ culture model to determine the usefulness of this technique in establishing the diagnosis of CMPSE on the basis of a single biopsy with in vitro milk challenge. Fourteen infants with diarrhoea...

The catalytic-centre activity and kinetic properties of bovine milk alkaline phosphatase.

1. The phosphorylation of milk alkaline phosphatase was studied under various conditions: maximum incorporation occurred at pH5.0 and 50% incorporation at pH6.6-7.0. 2. The phosphorylation was shown to be specific and the results suggest that the active centre of the enzyme is involved in the process. 3. Phosphoryl-enzyme is rapidly hydrolysed at alkaline pH. at pH7.0 the results suggest that a...

Establishing Quantitative Standards for Residual Alkaline Phosphatase in Pasteurized Milk

The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) assay is a rapid and convenient method for verifying milk pasteurization. Since colorimetric ALP assays rely on subjective visual assessments, their results are especially unreliable near the detection limits. In this study, we attempted to establish quantitative criteria for residual ALP in milk by using a more objective method based on spectrophotometric measure...
